I am in the same exact situation. Regrets: freely allowing my children (14 and 18) to be raised in such a controlling cult. If you let it happen, the governing body is going to be more influential and exert greater control over your children than yourself. My daughter is baptized and there's nothing that I regret more than that. You started early. Good for you. Don't waste any minute. Get their minds out of the controlling clutches of the governing body. Feel free to send me a personal message. I can tell you my experience with my wife and kids so you can learn to avoid big headaches in the future.

sooner or later our children will have questions about religion and the differences mom and dad show towards it.

"The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth"
by suavojr inas current witnesses, ex-jw's, believers, non believers.
the topic of what truth is, has been the dominating thought and motivation to many of us here.. so, what is truth?.
a question that has lingered since the dawn of our consciousness and it will stay as long as the human race is around.. .

Silly subject if applied to a world view. Sounds oxymoronic already

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I like seeing the GB going to these lengths to show some semblance of growth (more preaching hours in the year book). Remember promoting baptism of children in recent publications means more baptisms in the year book. Obviously more publishers too. The ruse is becoming so tranparent that I hope my brothers see it for what it is: a fraud, a scam to rob them of their money and life

I join the theory that the GB anticipates or is already undergoing a dearth of males and are trying to resort to "second best", spiritual women. Is the GB offering an alternative for women without children to still be saved? See 1 Tim. 2:15

How I Ended Up On JWN...

Welcome.
It's a good thing that you ended up here. You will expand your knowledge and get closer to the truth.
The only problem is that you are here because you didn't get things your way. You are here because someone didn't tickle your ears. Maybe the elders made the right calls. Maybe you are not ready, which is good, you never want to be ready.

My first post: Pet Peeves from my JW past
by BarHarborBarbara infirst post here: longtime lurker but hesitant to take the leap.
my story is pretty much like everyone elses with little variance, but i thought id add a few details that especially tormented me when i was in.
im sure these are familiar, im afraid this is a bit of a rant.. --paradise: the constant chatter about a perfect world when most in the hall were not even slightly interested in taking care of the earth now.

I hear you. As a despicable worldly person (mundano in Spanish) I try to go to my local grocery store with my own bag. More often than not I forget it in the car. So in that case I tell the cashier that I will carry the items in my hands and pockets (usually few). But when I go to my neighbor's trashcan (my own sister in law and devoted JW since childhood), I find piles of empty bags, even in knew condition, from the same grocery store where I refuse to take any. But, yeah I hear it all the time, how we non-JW's are ruining the earth.

tied-in?? English is not my first language. What the heck is the implication of the tied-in? An entire speech by the helper or part of it

"Watchtower's Achilles' Heel" is available in Spanish
by Doug Mason inthe watchtowers achilles heel is available in spanish.. if reasoning with a jw on the governing bodys interpretations such as of the kingdom of god, parousia, the cross, blood, and so on is unlikely to break the governing bodys mental stranglehold, what then is its achilles heel?.
my study: the watchtowers achilles heel answers that question.

Thanks Doug, I enjoyed your studies. Some actually make my brain work overtime, but it's well worth the effort

607 vs 587 BC - Cyrus Cylinder
by objectivetruth inhi everyone,.
i'm researching 587 vs 607 for the date of the destruction of jerusalem... i'm not doing the research to prove or disprove anything about 1914, rather i'm looking at these dates in comparison to 1948 & 1967.. what is your view on relying on the cyrus cylinder, to accept 607 as the correct date of destruction... i know that there are many other factors.. but i'm trying to keep this portion of my research as simple as possible, so i'm primarily interested in the appropriateness of using the cylinders date of 537 + 70 = 607. one other question.. is it likely that both dates 587 & 607 have their own significance?.

Sorry,
You are quite the serious man. I certainly don't intend an insult when I use the word apostate. If anything, I use it mockingly of the WT. Evidently (there, more mockery), the written word does not convey the subtleties that sound and images convey.
Even though humor doesn't seem to be your forte, I stilll appreciate your great work, as well as I appreciate COJ, J Penton, R. Franz, D. Mason and many others. Thank you. Sorry if I sounded flippant.
